Résumé
La problématique de l’existence ou non du Temps Aspect et Mode (TAM) dans les
langues gbè en général et en f ɔ ngbè en particulier est de plus en plus posée dans les
études scientifiques. Le présent article vient conforter la thèse de l’existence de ces
catégories grammaticales en fɔngbè. Cette étude part du principe que le nom de règne
des rois du royaume de Da ́ nxom ɛ véhicule des idées fortes et comporte divers syntagmes
grammaticaux. Nous proposons dans cet article une interprétation du temps à travers
l’énoncé complet du roi « Ga ̌ n nyǐx ɛ sú ». A partir des classes sémantiques verbales du
f ɔ ngbè, nous avons élaboré un corpus de verbes, qui a permis d’orienter et de catégoriser
chaque classe verbale avec ses propriétés sémantiques. Cette classification a conduit à
interpréter le temps présent dans l’énoncé complet issu du nom du roi « Ga ̌ n nyǐx ɛ sú « ,
premier roi du royaume de Da ́nxom ɛ .

Abstract
The problematic of the existence or not of Tense Aspect and Mode (TAM) in the
languages gbè in general and in f ɔ ngbè in particular is more and more posed in the
scientific studies. This article reinforces the thesis of the existence of Time Aspect and
Mode (TAM) in f ɔ ngbè. This study assumes that the reign name of the kings of the
kingdom of Dánxom ɛ conveys strong ideas and includes various grammatical syntagms.
We propose in this article an interpretation of tense through the complete statement of
the king « Gǎn nyǐx ɛ sú « . From the verbal semantic classes of f ɔ ngbè, we developed a
corpus of verbs, which allowed us to orient and categorize each verbal class with its
semantic properties. This classification has led to the interpretation of the present tense in
the complete statement from the name of the king « Gǎn nyǐx ɛ sú », first king of the
kingdom of Dánxom ɛ .
